The Schultz Family
We love our dogs. A lot.
Carly and Christopher met in 2015 and immediately discovered their mutual adoration of the canine species. In 2015, Carly had one dog who was “for-sure hers” doggo, and a foster dog, Sheba. When Chris asked Carly to move to Tennessee so they could start a life together with his two children from a previous marriage, they made Sheba official! Adoption papers were signed, and we were officially a family. Chris and Carly moved into the home they have been in for the past 6 years (and eventually purchased from their landlords.) The dogs became a crucial part of them bonding together as a family.
Carly and Chris got married in 2018. They would love to have a golden to add one more little love to the household. Carly and Chris are committed to rescuing, and will not ever go to a breeder. AGK or other rescues are the only sources they will consider if the situation is right.
The Schultz family includes Chris, Carly, Franklin (14), Aubri (13), and their adorable fur babies, Posie (9), and Sheba (7). Posie is a brown dog, who is a mix of lab, pit, and who knows! She’s a petite and lean girl who is incredibly energetic and sweet. Sheba is definitely part black lab, and then we think some border collie. Sheba is very smart, and incredibly affectionate with her humans.

“No dogs on the sofa” doesn’t really work in this household.
When Chris and Carly got engaged, they included the kids and doggos in the engagement photos.

A History of Doggos
Cappie
Carly’s mom, Jan, has always been a dog lover, in particular, a golden retriever lover. Jan’s mother, heard of a golden retriever who was being rehomed due to divorce. She told Jan, and Jan agreed to adopt her. Supposedly this dog was a perfect girl: house-trained, sweet and good with other dogs and kids. When Jan went to pick the dog up, she was greeted with the wagging tail of a perfectly angelic yellow lab. There was a mix-up in the paperwork, and the previous owners thought “Golden Yellow Labrador Retriever” meant she was a Golden.
Even though this was a funny mistake, Cappie and Carly experienced love at first sight. Cappie became Carly’s doggie-soul-mate companion for 15 years. Wherever Carly went - college, Wyoming for a temporary job assignment, a move to Asheville, NC - Cappie was right beside her.
Max
Jan missed having a golden after losing her previous girl, Bailey, so she did end up finding a responsible breeder and got Max. Max also lived to be 15, and was a spectacular companion. Carly spent from ages 14 - 18 with Cappie and Max in the same household. It was a wonderful way to grow up.
Cappie and Max were wonderful companions, and Jan and Carly took every opportunity to spend time with each other, and of course, it was always good to get Max and Cappie together. Henry and Daisey came along when Carly’s brother, Paul, married Melanie. It was so incredible that all the dogs got along so well.
